how to replace battery for U3?

One thing that prevents me from buying U3 now is that:

What is likely the overall battery life of U3?

How many years can I use it?

If the battery no longer functions:

How can I replace the battery? Where to get new batteries? What is the cost going to be?

It has Li battery inside that means there is no memory effect - and approx 500 cycle guaranteed. 500 x 20 hours :) must be more than enough till the end of the life span of this particular product...

or 1.5-3 years, whether you use it or not, depending what temperatures and charge levels you store it at. After that you WILL get a large drop in memory capacity (with any LiIon battery). Whether that is a show stopper depends on what the original runtime was, compared to what you need.

Afaik the only way to get them replaced is to have Cowon do it (for a price). SOme of the larger models (X5, M5) can use reasonably available PDA or phone batteries, but the smaller units are a problem. Sadly there is no real standard for LiIon rechargeable cells, and Cowon don't seem interested in making it easy for the user to swap the battery (Like Archos, or the iRiver X20 do).

Actually the battery is quite easy to replace. The only problem is finding a replacement battery unless cowon is willing to sell replacement parts like other companies do with things such as laptops. Does anyone know where to get a replacement battery? A replacement battery should be less than $20. I think it's the labor cost that actually runs up the price of getting the battery replaced. Actually the battery is quite easy to replace if the battery does not work for longer then just replace it by a another new battery
