Sounds like something went wrong with the install. That file does get installed in jetAudio's main folder. Is it there? Anyway I'll attach that file here for you, oops! too big for attaching. I would reinstall personally, incase other things went wrong also.

Perhaps the download is corrupted.
Try re-downloading the installer.

I've just installed JetAudio version 6-0-1 basic and also have a problem involving msvcrt.dll

msvcrt.dll isn't actually missing but the problem I have seems to be an incompatibility between the msvcrt.dll file in the JetAudio install folder and the ntdll.dll file in C:\Windows\System (this is on Win 98 SE by the way)

There should be a screen capture of the actual error message attached.

The version of msvcrt.dll is 7.0.2600.0 (xpclient.010817-1148) which makes me think there's every possibility that it won't work on Windows 98.

This is the first time I've tried JetAudio so I don't know if this problem is specific to version 6-0-1 or not.

Any help appreciated - jollyjack

But jetaudio runs well even if the file msvcrt.dll is not installed? Probably other app is using the file or something?

I had a similar problem and redownloading the file solved the problem. The only hitch was I needed to wipeout 5.0 plus and reinstall then apply the patch. But since this is the first install, I would remove first, redownload and try again.

From Where should i download the .exe again? From the the download section or from download.com?

Is windows 98se responsible for the problem??????

From the download section - download.com does not offer JetAudio 6 yet.

Well, I finally got JetAudio 6-0-1 to run but it was a bit of a struggle.

First I tried renaming the msvcrt.dll in the install folder so that it wouldn't be found by JetAudio.exe - this improved things slightly in that it took longer to fail and it now failed with an invalid page fault caused by JetAudio.exe

BTW - when msvcrt.dll can't be found in the install folder JetAudio hunts around to find one - in my case it found one in C:\Windows\System

I now tried uninstalling JetAudio and re-downloaded it this time without using a download accelerator then despite the fact that the newly downloaded file was byte for byte identical to the previous one I installed it. This produced exactly the same results as before - not surprisingly.

Then I found an entry from the JetAudio Team in another section of the forum jetAudio>Technical Support>JetAudio 6 Program Error in which they suggest moving all the files except jetaudio.cfg, jetaudio.exe, and jetcfg.dll to a temporary folder and then running JetAudio. I did this and the program started with no problems. Again following the advice given I gradually put the files from the temporary folder back into the install folder and tried running JetAudio each time.

Doing this I was eventually able to put back all the files except msvcrt.dll which still gave me my original error. I don't really understand why this process worked but I suppose that when the program has run once something, somewhere is updated which then lets the program run when all the files are again present.

After a quick try-out of JetAudio I am impressed and much prefer it to the Realone Player - I downloaded JetAudio specifically to be able to get rid of Realone Player which I never liked anyway but needed to play .ra etc. files.

A long post I'm afraid but I hope this may help someone else with similar problems. Thanks to NeTo and aquabee for their help.
