View Full Version : CW300 FM loss of left channel

I seem to be losing left channel audio on an increasingly frequent basis.
Taking out the battery for about five minutes seems to cure it for a while. It comes back though, in anywhere from a day to a week.

It doesn't fade out, I either have both channels or just the right channel when I go to FM mode.

I upgraded the firmware from 4.27 to 4.28 the day I received it, and to 4.32 yesterday. I had the same loss of channel today.

I've tried resetting the unit by holding in menu and record buttons while powering up.

This just feels more like a software than a hardware problem.

Any ideas??

Hi,

Did you get a proper answer from the jetAudio tech support, or still not?

Apparently, they read them, they just don't answer them.

As much as I like the cw300, this doesn't build confidence in the company.

I'll try again soon.

The problem seems to have changed a little as well.

The left channel now fades out. before it was either there or gone completely.

Taking the battery out for five minutes seemed to cure it before.
Overnight seems to work best now.

I took the battery out for about 40 minutes today, and the left channel came partially back for a little while, then faded out again within minutes.

MP3 playback works perfectly, its just an FM problem.

I keep hoping its a problem that a future firmware upgrade will cure.

Thanks for asking :)

I did as requested, and I got a response!

They said to send it in, and they'd cure it for Me.

I shipped it today (9/15). They should get it friday.

When I get it back, I'll post again.

I have a Creative MuVo I can use in the meantime. Compared to the CW300, its kind of like going from a Ferrari to a tricycle! I'll miss it.

I have the exact problem too! Seems something to do with the EQ. If u set a high and loud dynamic bass, the bass is heard on the left channel while the treble on the right channel...really think its a firmware problem. Can someone tell me how to "down-grade" the firmware?? I'm using the latest version, but think its not very well made.

The solution of removing the battery and leaving the player w/o battery for a while works. Seems to suggest the tuner's not very stable to some electricity build-up...Hopefully the problem does not resurface ANYMORE. Or else, it's going to be very vexing..because the solution is not simply taking out the battery, you have to WAIT FOR A WHILE!

I'm beginning to notice how the problem arises:
U first play mp3 at loud volumes for a while, select high dynamic bass...
then switch to radio.
U get the problem.

I've changed a new unit. So far, so good. It could be the new firmware problem. Or else, a physical batch defect problem.

For your information, it wasn't all plain smooth-sailing exchanging that iAudio unit. The salesperson wasn't that obliging, he was not at all pleased. I had no choice but to put up with that salesperson's temper! Ok, so can u now understand why I am SO FRUSTRATED? In any case, I believe its the upgrading of the firmware that caused the problem. So I'm not upgrading the firmware this time...hopefully, i get no nonsense from the new unit anymore.

All over the world there's always the possibility to be attended by a bad humorated salesperson. Good news you got your new unit up and running!

Also you've got to understand that support via foums requieres patience, 24hrs of wait at least, especially since this suppport forum has oppened recently. As iAudio stated mods are needed to prevent this kind of situations (i mean like the users feels no one is reading the post).

Hi,
@inspix
You got a new unit...that's fine and I hope it will work well for a longer time than the last one.

I know such bad situations it is absolutely unimportant what you like to buy You can get this problem in really every branch.

I have to agree with the opinion of NeTo. Sometimes it needs a lot of time to answer questions or to solve problems and I think that's why the forum is quite new and maybe there are a lot of user who have not so much experience with the CWs. And furthermore a lote of problems appear for the first time.
But doesn't matter in the near future I am sure it will work faster and faster.

Finally the best for inspix and your new unit let us be a good team...:D

I got a replacement CW300 from JetAudio today. Seems to work just fine so far.

It came with firmware 4.27. I think I'll resist upgrading for a few weeks, though I don't think firmware was the cause of the problem I had.

That's right. Try not to upgrade first.
I had that same problem, but after replacing a new unit and keeping the firmware as it is, I absolutely have no problems with the tuner.

I noticed for my case, it seemed to have something to do with the EQ settings. So my guess is its a firmware problem, since several other users have experienced similar problems too.
