On November 11, 2003, I bought the iAUDIO CW200 Mp3Player - 512MB (serial JCU100952), which I love dearly. But after a couple months of enjoyment, the On/Off switch no longer works reliably. It is increasingly not working or flakey, so that soon I will not be able to turn the CW200 on or off. Unfortunately, I cannot find the shipping receipt (I bought it online here at Jetaudio).

Does anyone have similar problems with the On/Off switch? Has anyone found a home remedy, some way of restoring the switch or using other techniques for On/Off? I realize home remedies will void the warranty, but without the shipping slip, I probably cannot get help from Jetaudio.

Help anyone?

Hehe - how far away is where you live from:

JetAudio, Inc.
20 fairbanks, Suite 171
Irvine, CA, 92618
1-866-983-7788

If it's not far you could just go up/down and beat their *** and make them repair it.

Just kidden - you sure you haven't got any form of receipt any where? I mean abso-friggen-lutally nowhere? Because if you haven't it's your own fault really. But perhaps JetAudio will be nice to you ... ;)

I live only one half hour from Irvine, and I tried phoning them. The phone number, the same oen you wrote below, is the number I called. It is an answering service in Minnesota! They have no clue about web purchases and very little information about the iAudio service center. They told me to pack the iAudio and ship it back with the receipts. If you bought one over the web, you better have saved your shipping box with papers in a place where you can remember. I've searched for mine, through tons of other papers, but so far no luck. The only chance remaining is to drive down there and pound on the door. (I'll let you know next week if they answer their door.) My wife suggests that I spray a shot of WD-40 into the On-Off switch. That sounds like a last resort when the button finally won't shut the thing Off or On. I don't know yet if that will restore the switch function (WD-40 is a lubricant), but I will let you know what happens if I try this experiment. Radio Shack used to put out a switch spray that restores the old knob switches, but that was usually a temporary fix. These iAudio switches are very tiny and may not respond to lubricants. It's worth a try if the unit is practically dead. I remember reading a review of the iAudio where the reviewer made comments about the switch being difficult, but I didn't have the problem until after 4 months of use.

I found email receipts for my JetAudio purchase. The emails say "This is your receipt...." from "The Plimus Team on behalf of JetAudio, Inc" One email also has a still-working link to the UPS delivery of the package. Are these receipts adequate for my warranty? (I know emails can be used in the legal court of law.) Can I print these emails out and use them to send the CW200 for repair of the bad On/Off switch?

Well, yesterday I drove to Irvine and found the 20 Fairbanks office. JetAudio was very polite and accepted my email receipts with no problem. They said they would send me the repaired CW200 as soon as possible. They said the turnaround is usually in 24 hours.

Early this morning the UPS driver knocked at my door, and yup, there was a package with the CW200, which I'm listening to right now. The On/Off switch is now working again. In the meantime, I had borrowed my wife's iRock 860, which is a fine MP3 player. But my CW200 really has better sound and FM reception than the iRock. Both are good but the iAudio is great.

And so is the excellent service from JetAudio!!
