U3 low FM sensitivity

I just purchased my U3, and I think it is really an excellent player. It has superior audio quality and for the flash player the 4GB capacity is also exceptionally high. However the built-in FM radio has clearly a low sensitivity, many cheap mp3 players FM radio easily beat U3’s. That is not worthy to a high class player like this…

I live in Budapest’s suburban area, and when I leave the central area of the city I must switch the FM mode into mono – sometimes even this cannot help. My previous middle range player easily worked on all those places where U3 cannot.

Is it possible to increase the FM sensitivity by a firmware update? (There was a firmware fix for stereo sensitivity – but I am asking for the sensitivity of the radio itself…)

You have tried unreeling the headphone cable to maximum length I assume? Like most MP3 players the headphone cable is used an FM antenna, and how you have the cable laid out has a big impact.

Having said that, most Mp3 players do not have great radio reception, and I doubt there is a simple fix for it.
