My iaudioM3 has recently stopped working.

The problem is that the remote control can no longer turn the player on and even if the player is turned on without using the remote, the remote display shows nothing and no music can be heard via the remote. Thought the problem was the remote but bought a new one and that didn't solve it. So it must be the unit, although the unit does still work fine as an external hard drive when plugged into a pc.

Has anyone out there ever had this problem and knows how to solve it? Could it be a firmware issue? Note that the player is no longer in its warranty period.

Many thanks

Could be a hardware problem with the remote jack on the M3. The only way to correct it is to have Cowon repair the unit. I do not recall that this was a widespread problem with the M3 and am unaware of any fix.

Problems with the remote/headphone jack are common(ish) on the M5/X5, but I'm not sure about the M3. Repair, if possible, is going to involve some micro-soldering, so the 'send it back to cowon' is probably the best solution, especially if they swap the battery at the same time, coz it has to be getting close to the end of its life by now.

The chances of it being a firmware problem are right down there with the chances of winning your local state lottery.

By the way, if you have a spare remote, and if, as I recall it's the same as the M5/X5 remotes, you can probably make a tidy sum selling it to desperate people over at http://www.iaudiophile.net/forums/, since there M5/X5 remotes are now much sought after.
