Am I doing something wrong? Do I have the wrong version?

Why is the max bitrate I can choose for mp3 broadcasting 56kbps?

WMA is fine at 128kbps+

Just curious...

Thanks
Ico

Hi IcoHolic

There does seem to be a problem with the mp3 encoder in the latest version of jetCast but whynot try OggVorbis instead. its better quality than mp3 or mp3PRO IMO.

What connection speed have you got?
128k is a bit exccessive realy and only cable users will be able to connect and unless you got a lot of bandwidth yourself youll not get more than a single listener at 128k.

Divide your Uploda Bandwidth by your |Bitrate to work out howmany listeners you can support.

256k upload & 56k bitrate will get you 4 listeners MAX
Reduce the number by 1 so you have some spare bandwieth this will give you 3 listeners at 56k You never get your full upload anyway so that needs to be accounted for too.
You should never MAX Out your connection as other apps will not be able to access the web while you cast and your listeners will experience severe buffering.
Remember any stream over 32k will not be accessable to 56k modem users and as modem users make up the majotity of Web usres you will be reducing your potentiol listener cover drasticly by casting over this rate.
