Hi, i just bought s9 and i couldnt create playlist using the jetaudio. They tol me to use WMP to make playlist, but i dont have wmp and i dont like to use wmp. Isnt it strange that mp3 player such as s9 cant make playlist using their own software???

anyone know how to create playlist without using wmp??
cowon should do better job on this playlist thing......how come their premium product doesnt have such obvious feature for an mp3 player....

Although technical support was utterly unable to give me any assistance with this, I think I've figured out playlists on the S9.

First, you must be in MTP mode, and you must stay in MTP mode so long as you have the playlist. (Yes, this means that you cannot have both FLAC files, and playlists. Since WMA lossless files do not currently work, this means no lossless playlists).

After you're in MTP mode, you may make playlists by navigating to the song folders through Windows explorer, right clicking a file, and creating a new playlist. If you open the playlist's properties through Windows Explorer, you'll be shown a list of songs in the playlist. You can simply drag other files into this list to add them. The playlist file does not have to be in the playlist folder, as the file is just a pointer to the playlist in the device's database (which also causes the file playlist to be deleted if you change to MSC mode ever again.)

So, as long as you don't rely on lossless quality files, this solution should (sort of) fix your dilemma. With any luck, future firmware updates will actually make the damn thing do what Cowon said it did when I bought it; but until then, this will have to do.

I'm using MediaMonkey and it seems to work as well. I did however back down my firmware to 2.07. 2.08 would reset the device when I tap the screen after it's blanked, and it appeared to have deleted my playlists on at least one occasion.

So far no trouble with 2.07 though.

Not a clue of what are you talking about! I just purchased my Cowon S9 and I'm ready to get rid of this piece of trush if I can figure out how to create Playlist. It should be a very easy process like in any other MP3 player. I asume you are vey nice to provide instructions but not anyone like in my case, are experts in the MP3 terminology. No idea what MPT, MSC, FLAC and WMA lossles files are. Would be too difficult to explain all this in plain English so we tech ignorants can make use of a simple device like an MP3 player? I do appreciate it!....

You cannot create playlists on-the-fly just by using the S9. You must use a program like Winamp, Media Player or Media Monkey to create them. If you search the net I'm sure you can find a walk-thru for whatever program you decide on. I put a quick walkthru using Media Player on your other post.

The only thing you can do on the actual player is add songs to your favorites on the S9, which is sort of a playlist in a sense, albeit limited. To do this, while a song is playing, press the bottom left icon (box with a plus sign in the lower left corner), then click the heart. This will add the song to your favorites list.

Hopefully, Cowon will add an on-the-fly playlist creator option in a future firmware upgrade (fingers crossed). Hope this helps.
