Hi,when ever I play any ape files created monkey audio will never work with jetaudio player, it allway get a message out of memory...I tried three files with different sizes: *.wav (500kb) --> *.ape (148kb) *.wav (2.4mb) --> *.ape (1.53mb) *.wav (29.4mb) --> *.ape (14.8mb)Every file was working well on JetAudio 5.17. What for an encoder version of Monkey's Audio (http://www.monkeysaudio.com/index.html) did you use to craete the *.ape files and what was your compression-setting. I used the version 3.97 (http://www.monkeysaudio.com/download.html) and compression-setting Normal.ps: all the ape file creat by jetaudio software will play fineI had the same experience.

I use 3.97 version and 3.98 alpha. both of them get same error.
by the way lattest jetaudio use monkey audio compression 3.97
so it suppost to be a bug there

I don't think so because the three files which I tried wasn't created by jetAudio but by the Monkey's Audio 3.97 Frontend self.

try creat a ape from lattest jetaudio and play under winamp and check out the imformation of ape files. under tag it will say created monkey audio 3.97

Yes of course. But I thought you mean there is a bug in jetAudio to play *.ape files created with Monkey's Audio 3.97.

Hey y'all, I was searching the threads to see if anyone else was having a problem with jetAudio and Monkey's Audio ape files. This seems to be the appropriate spot to post to.

I've got the latest (6.06.4806 Basic) version as of this writing running on a Win98se system. jetAudio will neither play an ape file or convert a wav file to an ape file. When an attempt is made to play, the program starts as if its about to do something and then does nothing. When trying to convert a wav file, I get an error number -930, whatever that means. If I switch out the JFAPERd.dll and JFAPEWt.dll files in the jetAudio install directory with older versions from a previous install, jetAudio works (both reading and writing), but only on ape files up to version 3.97 and not the most recent 3.99.

The obvious workaround is to use version 3.97 ape files, which is what I'm doing. All of the above leads me to think it's a software bug, but the date on these dll's is 5/04, which means that if this is a bug it has gone unfixed for four months.

Anyway, that's been my experience with it. If anyone can confirm my observations or offer a less kludgey solution I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Hey y'all. Switching older jetAudio dll's for newer ones as described in my previous post made me think that maybe the reverse should be tried. So the jetAudio JFAPERd.dll and JFAPEWt.dll files from a v6.0.6.4806 Basic Win98se installation were plugged into a v6.0.4.4513 Basic Win2K installation. It worked fine! All versions of ape files can be read and v3.99 (the newest) ape files are created when wav files are converted.

So it seems the Monkey's Audio related bug is operating system related. It will show up on Win98se but not Win2K. I don't know for sure about other OS's but my guess is that WinXP is probably ok and Win95/98 are not. I wouldn't hazard a guess for WinME.

Again, if anyone could confirm or contradict these observations, your feedback would be appreciated.

Your guess seems to be right: No problems here on WinXP Pro SP1. Unluckily I can't test on a Win9x machine until friday, I'll let you know if I find anything then

There must be bug....
jetaudio dosen't work right with *.APE and DVD, on OS winXP sp2.
every time i try to play an APE with jetaudio it calls an error out of memory
sometimes i use jetaudio to play DVD, it stopped half way while WinDVD can play the same disc to the end smoothly.
also ,sometimes jetaudio dosen't play a DvD disc form the very start.
sometimes it dosen't work right with the subtitle(i mean can't show the sub title when the subtitle is placed in the margin---the black part of the screen.)
Really hope that these bugs won't present in the following edition.

PS. I like jetaudio, it allows me to manage my songs conveniently.THX
