I'm new to the whole mp3 thing, but needed a new toy and, after years of faithful service from my mindisc, decided to treat myself.

Not being one to dive headfirst into things, I did some serious research on these things. And being a professional audio engineer, I like to think that my opinion might be worth something.

I eventually decided on the iaudio M3, and I definately made the right choice. If you're an adult, then don't listen to the criticism. This is easy to use, sounds fantastic, and is small enough to throw in your back pocket and forget about. I've had no problems with the remote, because that was a fault with the early batch. I know this because I asked Cowon, who replied immediately! Try getting that out of Apple and iRiver. They are also constantly issuing firmware updates, and ones that make a difference. They are currently working on adding gapless playback, but as it is, if you encode your music in .ogg format, and you're walking about town, you won't even notice the gap.

The radio works very well, although you should now there is some noise when you record from it, but it is not terrible.

The headphones are a bit pants, but they always are. I stongly recommend the Sennheiser PX200s, which sound wonderful with this player. The only real alternative to this player is the iriver HP series. But I found them too bulky, a little plasticky (it's a word now!), and the iRiver customer support is non-existant.

Buy this and be happy.

 He says it guys!

Why is that whenever you contact iAUDIO they respond immediately and when I e-mail and call them (left a message because no one would answer, even during business hours), I don't get any response?

That is not my review. I would just like to point that out.
I also have to wait a little sometimes to get some replies.

About how long? I've waited a little over a month now.

Oh, then you've got to bug them about it again. It usually doesn't take that long :(
What were you asking them?

what hes really tryin to say, is that when you spend all your life replyin to posts about a music player,, i guess the least your entitle to is a somewhat expediated response system. seriously though.. if i spent all my time advertising the m3 in good lights, and jetaudio was a dick to me interms of replyin to my humble questions, i would go berserck and sabatoge all their stuff, cause to be truthfull,, eXity's comments about the m3 are what motivated me to purchase the m3l. he just scored jetaudio another 359 dollar purchase for free..
