i downloaded a song off of itunes but the file does not play on my iaudio4. how do i get this file to play?
The songs downloaded off iTunes are sold by Apple. Apple produces the iPod. Apple only wants these files to play on the iPod. The format of these files is AAC. The iAUDIO4 can not play AAC files. Even if it could play AAC files, it wouldn't be able to play AAC files with Digital Rights Management, because Apple only wants you to be able to play these files on an iPod.
The iAUDIO4 can play files from other Legal online Music stores though such as Napster.

you will still need to convert to a playable format though something like dbpoweramp.
well, this might be the dumbest way to do it but at least it worked for me which is still good becaue Apple has added all those protections to its files. You know you can burn CDs off of ituens files using its built-in CD-burner. Now if you just burn a CD of the tracks you like using itunes burner, then the tracks change format to .cda and as a result if you put the CD back in the computer and open Windows Media Player(or something like jetaudio), you can
convert the tracks on the CD to .WMA files(playable in many players). Now, if you can only use MP3 files for your player, then just use dBpowerAMP engine to convert all your .WMA files to MP3.

aac is a lossy format. Ripping from a CD that has burnt with an original that is lossy to a format that is lossy means massive quality loss.
I can't recommend that.
