Just got this in, the U2 (1 Gig). Plugged it in a USB port and got zip... nada...nothing.

Tried different USB ports... Not to worry though, using a paperclip and pushing the reset button got things started.

More to come after I get it charged, up and running.

2 Days later...

I really like this MP3 player. Great sound, easy to use navigation, great display, nice accessories, somewhat pricey but hey if you buy a gig of flash memory alone, see what that costs.

Now the downside.... I must constantly hit the reset to get this )(#)* thing working after its been off for awhile, and sometimes not even after a while. It became really fustrating today when I wanted to record a presentation and I didn't have a paper clip to hit the reset. Missed recording the presentation and had to take notes. (one of the main reasons I purchased the unit) This doesn't seem like it would be normal. I am very careful with the unit and don't bang it around, I wear it around my neck.

You have to take it out of the leather case to push the reset.. If this keeps up I will have to create an opening in the case to access the reset button and carry a supply of paper clips around with me (yuuukkkk). It may be time to test the return policy to see if I can get a replacement. I am checking these forums to see if anyone else has the same issue.

droberts,

I got my 1 gig U2 about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I have not had to press the reset button even once. Its been good to me so far. I plug in my U2 to recharge once every 3 or 4 days. But even when the battery is low, I haven't had the unit turn off on me yet. No skips, good volume (normally set to around 10-20).

I have about 900 megs filled, and I leave the rest to record lectures. I use mp3gain to increase the volume to normal levels sometimes when I record a lecturer that speaks softly, or when I come late to class and have to sit far away.

One week into usage, I also upgraded to the new 1.10 firmware. Works great. No problems watsoever. I'm only disappointed with the case that it comes with right now. I'm actually looking into how to make a mold and producing a silicon case for it like the ones they have for the iPod. Anyone interested if i'm successful??? :D

Perhaps you should contact Cowon or whomever u bought it from to take care of your isssues.

I have never had to reset the unit. Only once after a firmware upgrade. The U2 is rock stable. I would try getting your player exchanged - that doesn't sound normal ....
