volume spiking???

Not sure what the term is. I had a problem with no volume when I converted files. Had to reinstall OS, put all songs back on. everything is ok and I got back the volume.

The problem is sort of the opposite now--now it plays fine, but every 10 seconds or so the volume spikes really high. It is so frustrating because I like the clarity and features of this player, but can't stand this problem. I don't get this problem In windows media player or realplayer.

I do have sound upgrade. I have agc on.

Check if you have Dynamic Range Control or Dynamic Limiter enabled (Both can be found in Preferences->Sound). If you do, try playing your files with both of them disabled. If I remember correctly, DRC can cause clipping with certain files.
