My problem is that the outstanding COWON media player doesn't play media files if they have an incorrect file extension (i.e. *.avi instead of .mp4) although it has all the codecs available for the correct execution of that file, and if you correct the extension's letters after a certain time wasted on determining the exact media codecs involved, the media file is played just fine. Now that happens mostly with avi files that have an mpeg encoding or vice versa.
So I'd like to know if this can somehow be fixed in the settings or elsewhere. Thanks.
