Anyone has a suggestion of DIY battery replacement for q5w? My battery been dead with no significant charge holding for like a year now.
I removed it completely yesterday: It was no good and take up weight plus it seems the battery appears bloated up to the point which causes significant compression inside preventing the hd from even spinning. I thought the hard drive was dead, but after removing the bloated swelled up battery, the pressure is relieved and the hd working again. Dont know if anyone got the same problem
Anyway, my q5w is on pluggin power only now but at least the hd and everything else seemed working. Much appreeciated any suggestion of a DIY battery replaccement. Thnx
Also, is it true that you can't stream radio sound over bluetooth?

Installed a A3 battery (costs $15) which is smaller and of lower capacity (4200mAh). Works fine except the play time is about 3 hr for video and 5-6 hr for mp3. So less than original battery but a lot cheaper than the other solution.
There's probably some hesitation on the part of we DIYers because any fair compensation for this relatively simple procedure would be greatly outweighed by the cost of having to replace your unit in the event that we make a mistake. This risk is fine when working on one's own projects/equipment, but not so when working on someone else's.
The soldering on this project is trivial; you just need to solder two small wires onto two small pads, and keep the polarity correct. It probably took me a total of 25 minutes to perform the entire procedure, being extra careful. If you're interested, PM me and I'll send a PDF that I made with instructions and images for the battery swap.

Well, finding a replacement battery and then figuring out how to get it apart would probably be a good starting pointhttp://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif But by the point your battery dies you'll probably be ready for a new style player anyways. Hi,
JUst replaced my q5 battery. I ordered one at cowonuk.com. First mailed support, after responce ordered by phone. I could pay by paypal and received the battery winthin 3 working days. SUPER SERVICE!!!!!http://iaudiophile.net/forums/images/smilies2/thumbup.gifhttp://iaudiophile.net/forums/images/smilies2/thumbup.gif
Replacing the battery is easy you'll only need a torx 0.6 to unscrew the 6 screws. than lift the back pannel en unplug the battery en insert the new one. Piece of cake!
I am in the Netherlands and the battery was costing me 41 gbp including shipment by fedex
regards
