Often when I go on-line and want to listen to song snippets (WC Clark for example) they are in Real Player format. I despise this program which always inserts itself anew into the system tray icon startup whenever you decide to use it........ (evil ;-)

With Jet Audio will I be able to use/access Real Audio on-line music files??

With Jet Audio do I have to have it in the system tray icon (ie startup)?
If not, which I hope, when I do start the program will it also be aggressive and try to place itself in the startup next go around like Real Player???

Thanks!

I've asked the question before and no one seems to know. I'd assume that it can't handle quicktime and realplayer content in a browser.

I still don't know if it can handle the content in browsers, but with the alternative codecs found at http://www.kazaalite.tk (download both qt and rp) you don't need to ever install qt or rp. It even handles web content well.

btw it doesn't need to be in the system tray, but neither did rp or qt. They just defaulted there and most people didn't bother turning them off.

u can un-install ur realplayer then have jetaudio to play the .ram files.
you don't have to have jetaudio running in the system tray..(next to the clock) just associate real files with it..and jetaudio will start up when u play a real audio stream from the web

The problem with that is, that JetAudio only brings a limited amount of real dlls. As soon as you uninstall real player, you loose the extra dlls that you might need for some stuff to play (such as news.bbc.co.uk - if promted if you live in Great Britain click YES). Also, I found that the Real Player alternative does a good job of replacing Real Player, but it's still in no way perfect yet!
