1) To use the unit like a DVD player, you need to build the directory structure of your video to include a Video_TS subdirectory. Might be a "duh" but it took me a day to figure it out

2) To play a DVD, you don't hit the center "OK" button on the remote, you hit "play" button. This is the only remote I have that doesn't let you use the center button.

3) Yup, files over 2 GB aren't recognized by the unit.

4) While Nero Digital might be a MPEG4 implementation, the unit doesn't recognize it. Which is a shame, since it's ridiciously easy to use Nero Recode to rip into that format, unlike ripping into Xvid or DIVX.

Still learning.

I have been able tp play dvds off the hard drive without the video_ts stucture. All I do is create individual dir for each movie by name.

When you do that, do you have to select a file to play? With the video_ts subdirectory, when I hit the play button the movie starts. Since I want my kid to use it, I want it to be as easy as possible, so not having to select a file was my goal.
