I installed JetShell 3.1 PRO specifically to get the WMA->MP3 conversion. When I select a .wma file and then chose File > Convert WMA to MP#, I just a dialog box salying "Select WMA or IFS file." But I have already selected the file. I can convert WAV files fine (and convert from a CD just fine), so I do understand the process.

I have reinstalled Windows Medai Player 9 from Microsoft's site and uninstalled and reinstalled JetShell with no luck.

I called for tech support but the person there had never run JetShell 3.1 PRO, so he installed it and ran it and it worked for him and he and no suggestions on why it wasn't working for me.

I have tried it on various .wma files. I have renamed files, so their fileanmes are short (and .wma). heck, Ieven tried renameing the file for the extension was in capital letters .WMA, and nothing helps.

Any ideas?

I am getting very frustrated becuase what I want to do is buy music on the web that I can downlod onto the iAudio. I have been completely unable to do this at Apples iTunes site as I cannot figure out how to convert the format those songs are in. Then I find store.liquid.com, which provides the files in .wma format and says you can convrt them for download to mp3 players, but I can't get JetShell to convert.

Also the Option to automatically convert .wma to mp3 on downlaod (I assume this is download to the iAudio player) doesn't do anything either.

Any ideas will be appriciated.

Thanks,
-Carrie

To the best of ym knowledege JetShell CAN NOT convert wma files *with* copy protection to mp3 - seeing that this would be a mechanism to remove the copy protection of these files.
So, if all the wma files you have just been talking about are copy protected - forget about it! This is not a JetAudio problem, this is not a JetShell problem, this is not an iAudio problem. This is a problem with the codec. If you were asking for JetShell to be able to convert these files to mp3 then you would be asking for JetAudio/Cowon to break the law (and believe me, you don't wanna get into the wrong place with Microsoft).

So, sadly there is nothing you/we can do about this problem - Although I might be wrong ... Please correct me if I am ...

You are correct. If the WMA files have DRM protection there is nothing you can do; the file was protected in order to avoid copies/conversions.

You can find more info on DRM in these pages:
