View Full Version : A2 - protected video conversion

Hi all.

New A2 owner (last week).

Have updated firmware to 1.77

Tried playing two windows media videos on A2 and one says "codec not supported" and the other just puts up a fuzzy image that freezes.

The second video that doesn't work is a pop video that I downloaded (and paid for) from an online music store - as a .wmv file. It plays fine on Windows Media Player and also plays in Jet Audio.

When I try to convert it to a file that will play on the A2 (using Jet Audio), the Jet Audio says unable to convert as file copyright protected.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get around this problem?

Thanks
James

Just an idea---- If it is a paid for video, there may be a DRM license file associated with your video.

Try to find this file, (Should look something like "DRMxxxx.lic") and put it in the same folder as the video file, then try again to convert.

If that doesn't work, maybe try a third party converter like WinAvi to convert it.

I've found that many of my existing WMV files, even ones not protected, won't play natively on the A2 or convert with the Jet Audio, and I have to use a 3rd party converter to get them converted properly.
