View Full Version : What's up with the RIP??
Alright, I have JetAudio6 installed and decided to try it for ripping Cd's as I usually have just been using WMP.
I originally tried FLAC, but wow did that ****. Lots of crackles and clicks, so I deleted that.
Then I just ripped in JA6 to WMA for 9. The quality was better on some song but on others I still got some clicks and clacks. :(
Ripped it with WMP and no problems.
Just wondering why this is happening. The sample rate was 128, should it be higher. is WMA 9.0 native higher than 128?
I was hoping never to touch MW9.0 again.
Please help the JA6 newbie. :v:
Cheers,
Mike
* Try going to jetAudio's preferences->Disc->Audio CD
* Click on Configure Advanced Options
* Enable Jitter Correction
That's a common cause for cracks and clicks, and its caused by the cd-rom drive.
You may also try the OGG format, that has a great sound quality.
Well, I made the changes in the preferences you suggested and RIPPED again using OGG and it still clicked and clacked. Tried again with the WMA format and still the same.
Copied with MWP and no problems at all. It is sampling at 128 as well.
I am not sure what is going on but it looks like JetAudio needs improvement in RIPPNIG CD's. Too bad I really like the program otherwise.
The CD is Violent Fememes - Add it up (1981-1993)
The click and clacks seem to happen particularly on the higher areas of the sound, where there is more treble than base.
If you can think of anything let me know and I will try it. Otherwise I have to stick to WMP for copying.
Cheers,
Mike
Well, I figured it out for what it is worth. To get a decent rip with no skips, clicks or gliches I have to esport to WAV format when I use Jet Audio. Not my first choice but it seems to work fine now.
I am disappointed that the only good quality sound ripping is to a WAV.
On another note, I have had success with conversion too OGG without any troubles, just issues when ripping to OGG.
If anyone has any other suggestions/prefferences, please let me know.
Cheers,
Mike

Have you ever tried to change the ripping API ?
You can choose one of the following ripping API : Generic SCSI Interface and Native NT API.
1. Open "Ripping" dialog box
2. Choose the drive you want to rip from the combo box on top of the dialog box
3. Click "Config" button
4. Choose API
If you have still problems, please let us know about your OS, exact model number of your CD-ROM drive.
Thank you.
Wooohoooo, you are a genius. Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my posts.
Everything works fine now.
Now I can get rid of WMP!!!!!!!!! Oh, yeah baby :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:

Which API is fine for you ? SCSI or Native NT ?
Can you let us know your OS and CD-ROM drive model ?
Thank you.
Native NT as you suggested and is what I used and I have XP Pro.
The CD drive is a DVD/CD-ROM that came with my Dell Dimension 4400. I went into System but i cannot find a specific name on it. just Lit-On LTN486 48x Max. Hope this helps some
