View Full Version : Can I make a suggestion for future JetAudio enhancements?
Hello, I am new here and I hope this is the right place to do this?
I really like the JetAudio program it does just about everything one could want but I have a couple of suggestions or requests for the next version this would also make JetAudio a viable product in the HTPC arena.
1, Could you put in AC3 support so we can get Dolby Digital pass through when viewing DVD's?
2, Could you add support for ffdshow filters? (greatly enhances image quality of DVD playback)
Thank you for your time and a great little program!

I would like to be able to remove jetAudio from taskbar, and still have the program open. Winamp 5 have this function, and I hope jetAudio has it too.

That option is already available.
There's a button right next to the Close button.
It is an arrow pointing downwards and to the right.
This sends the program to the system tray.
Great stuff JA6 !
Some cool new features!
Keep up the good work!

You can use ffdshow with jetAudio! Just conifigure it as you wish (formats it should work with etc.). It's theonly way I view videos, I can't live without it!
About AC3, althought there isn't a decoder included, since jetAduio supports DirectShow filters, you can use the popular AC3 Filter (http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/) with it. Or, if you have an adecuate splitter codec, you can use the Intervideo AC3 decoder, that has a great quality.

Thanks for the reply!
I was able to get the AC3 filter to work, and it sounds great, but still unclear as how to tell JetAudio to use the ffdshow filters? Jet Audio does not appear to it find ffdshow on it's own because I made several changes to the ffdshow filter and it had no effect on the DVD playback image.
How did you get the ffdshow filters to work?

Letme check my ffdshow settings...
* Codecs: Most set lo libavcodec. Set libavcodec as the decoder in a format so ffdshow runs when a file of that format is opened. If you want to use it DVDs or VCDs, you should set MPEG1 & 2 to libavcodec. But consider that those formats aren't fully implemented in ffdshow, so may may see artifacts or a performance decrease.
* Tray & dialog settings: Select "Show tray icon" to make sure that ffdshow loads when you load a video. If the tray icon appears when you open the video... then you should be happy :)

Sorry that I didn't make myself clear. If you click that button, the whole program got minimized to tray. However, I still want to see the program.
Consider this. jetAudio has 3 components: program, taskbar button, tray icon. I just want the program and the tray icon.
This would save some space in my Windows taskbar.

I almost got it;
I did what you said and when I start an mpeg file ffdshow will start , I get the icon is in the system tray and looks very impressive by the way. However when I start a DVD movie ffdshow does not start, no icon in tray. I have been using another player called zoomplayer with ffdshow and when I start a DVD using it ffdshow starts and I get an icon in the tray so it does work just not with Jet for some reason. Any Idea what I might need to do next to get ffdshow to work with DVD's and JetAudio?
Thanks again for your time!

Uhm, I have tested with a VCD and no probs. Unluckily I don't have DVDs at hand to test with (I would need to rent one, because I don't have DVDs of my own :o ).
You may try enabling VMR9 (Preferences->Disc->DVD/Video CD->Configure DVDOptions->Video), but I don't know if that will make a difference. I have zoomplayer installed (and it was my favorite before jetAudio 6 was released for video), but I actually never noticed if I had ffdshow enabled or not. I have been reading and for what I understood it seems ffdshow has problems connecting to other DVD software (like WinDVD or PowerDVD). Probably the author of Zoomplayer implemented a workaround for that?

I believe Zomplayer and TheaterTek are the only DVD players that can use ffdshow both authors had to implement support for it. Maybe one of the JetAudio programmers will be able to implement it as well. The picture quality is like night and day between version 5 and version 6, ffdshow support would be the icing on the cake.
Also I dont know if you know this but Reclock does work with version 6 so that another bonus.

I have never used it before. It enhances the audio/video sync right?

Here is some info about it:

My suggestion for Jet Audio.

Integrated playlists and visualizations!
Jetaudio would be perfect if it offers playlist and library function just like Musicmatch Jukebox
