iAudio M3 - Startup time
Hi!
I habe a problem with my M3. Since some days, my M3 needs more than 2 minutes to start . I have about 22 Gb mp3 files and 18 Gb avi files on my player. Is it possible that it takes so long because I need the whole harddisk space? I tried to solve the problem by updating the firmware, but it didn't work. Have you any idea what I can do? Is there someone else who had this problem? Thanks in advance for your help! |

Not sure but since the M3 will "ignore" the avi files, it first needs to run through the files to find out what to ignore. Are there many avi files or just a few very large ones ?
Claudia p.s. and do you use the M3 to store avi files or why are they on the device ? |

Not much better
Hi Claudia
I had stored 4 big avi-files, because I hadn't enough space on my other harddisk. Now I have removed this avi-files from the M3, but the startup-time is nearly the same. Perhaps, it's a little bit better, but still not good. Do you think that there is a problem if I have 4500 mp3s in one folder? If I would sort the mp3s by artist, I would have about 1500 folders!! |

what is your firmware version ?
Do you have a lot of files in the root folder ? I have read somewhere that that could be a problem as well, i.e. make sure that all songs are in subfolders. Mine takes about 38 seconds to start up (2319 songs, 14.5GB) Claudia |

I'm not sure what the root folder is. I have about 4000 files in only one folder (no subfolders!) which I called MP3. Additionally, I have more than 1000 files in another folder called MP3 CD's. Once I sorted the MP3's by artist, but then I had more than 1500 folders and I read that the M3 is only for 1000 folders. So I don't know if I should them sort again by artist...
By the way, 38 seconds is also a rather long time. If I turn on the player, I expect it to work in some seconds. I'm not that patient... My firmware is the 1.35 version. NEWS: Finally I have solved the problem by pressing the reset button while the player was turned off. It now takes about 5 seconds to start. ![]() Last edited by rutschma : 01-14-2005 at 05:36. |
