U2 recognized by cpu, but won't turn on or charge

I have an iaudio U2, 1GB, firmware 1.35.

When I plug my u2 into my cpu via usb, windows recognizes it and the u2 turns on and goes to the "usb ready" screen. I can view the song files on the u2 using windows explorer.
BUT, it doesn't give me the charge icon on the u2 screen.

When I unplug the player from my cpu and try to turn it on, it won't turn on.

I doesn't look like it is charging (or at least I am not getting the charge icon) and it won't turn on after unplugging it from the cpu.

Thoughts?

Just upgraded to firmware 1.40....and I still get the same deal. No charging icon while plugged into the usb port, and I can't turn it on after unplugging it from the usb port.

HELP!!!!!!!!

Try the reset button. If that doesn't work I guess you need to RMA the unit (although sometimes they seem to 'get well' on their own - maybe when the internal battery runs down and they finally quit whatever knot they are in).

Did you try reformatting the thing with jetshell?

I did try resetting it...a few times. Didn't work.

RMA??

I'll try reformatting with JetShell...where is the serial number for jetshell located? The SN on the back of the U2 unit doesn't work for some reason.

cprice12,

The serial number is in the Jetshell CD cover. There are actually two of the same simply on pieces of paper.
