Recording MP3

Happy Holidays:

I am just into this recording and disk burning thing. I have managed to record a reel to reel tape to my harddrive (wave file). This file is about 978 Meg. 14 minutes to large for my 700 Meg disk. I cannot figure out how to convert or record to a MP3 file. All attempts leads to an error. Does it have something to do with the sound card. I have Creative SB Live! Wave Device, ver. 5.1.263.0 installed with WinXP. Could not find a version of JetAudio for Dummies.... I have just installed JetAudio Basic ver. 6.0.0.3224

Follow this steps to record in a small file:

* Right Click on Jetaudio tray icon. Choose Function->Record. There is also a record button in the default skin.
* In "Source" select where your sound is coming from. "Line in" should work.
* In "target" Choose a file name, folder, and under "Encoder" choose:
- WMA, to record to a Windows MEdia Audio File
- Ogg for Ogg Vorbis

Now, just press start to start recording

Both formats (WMA and ogg) produce very small files with good quality. If you really need mp3 or mp3pro, you must buy jetAudio Pro.

NeTo is right - but you don't have to rerecord your wav file. You can just convert it using JetAudios convert feature!

JetAudio 6 Basic features some cool new codecs such as an updated ogg and WMP 9 - so you should be fine with any of those 2 @ 128 kbit vbr ...
