Cowon X7 Updating Database lockup

since there doesn't seem to be an X7 forum, im posting this here.

my x7 does not progress past the updating database progress bar screen and is not recognized by my computer(windows 7 x64).

after searching my problem online i've found that this is a common problem

how can i fix this?
