jdl_id3lib.dll bug
JetAudio crashed every-so-often whenever I changed albums. The Jet error handler refused to send an error message on account of "Unable to find MAPI Service..." (Probably on account of the fact that I don't run an Exchange server
).To try and figure out what the problem was, I deleted JetCrash.dll, seeing as it wasn't able to send an error message to it's makers, and 'coz it only generated cryptic error messages which gave me no insight into what the problem was. I then ran JetAudio and waited for the problem to resurface. It did, and according to windows error reporting service, the problem file was jdl_id3lib.dll. Deleted this file, and deleted JADplugins.cache. Have run the program without a crash for 3 days now. Apart from the fact that I can't edit id3 tags with jet, everything else is fine. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me and my setup? ---- JetAudio 6.01.4302[Plus] WinXP Pro Build 2600.xpsp2.030422-1633 (Service Pack 1) Intel Pentium III 1 Gig, 512 DDR, kX Project Drivers, Audigy 2, DirectX 9 ____ EDIT: NeTo or eXiTy: I posted this in the JetCast by mistake. Was supposed to go in JetAudio Bug Reports. Could you please move it? Thanks. Last edited by eddieamp : 03-08-2004 at 05:24. |

When you encounter crash, you can SAVE the error report as .zip file instead of send it. Then you can post the .zip file on this forum or send it using your e-mail problem to development team (betatest@jetaudio.com)
I highly recommend to send the MP3 files to development team also. |

Just out of curiosity, the mail address (support or betatest) makes no difference right? Or betatest@jetaudio.com is prefered?

support@jetaudio.com doesn't bounce, so it must reach *somebody*.I seem to have figured out what the problem is, or at least what causes the problem. Moved jdl_id3lib.dll back to the JAD folder and deleted jetplugins.cache. Ran JetAudio and kept playing songs from different albums in the playlist dropdown till it crashed. Noticed that only mp3PRO files cause the problem. mp3's work just fine. Then changed all my albums to "Monitor folder and refresh automatically". Noticed that it didn't matter if I was playing an mp3PRO or not. As long as the active album had at least one mp3PRO file in it at the time. &@%*( mp3PRO format! have added the zip as an attachment. |

Hello,
support@jetaudio.com is for general support, and betatest@jetaudio.com is for development team. So please send the error report to betatest@jetaudio.com. eddieamp, We have investigated your error report, but we could not find exact reason. Can you send the MP3 file (which occurs crash) to us ? We really appreciate for your help. Thank you. Last edited by JetAudio Team : 03-09-2004 at 12:22. |

JAD team:
Thanks for your reply and for a great player! I've sent you one of the mp3 files that causes the problem, along with jdl_id3lib.dll from my machine. I don't think I've mentioned this earlier, but I've installed and reinstalled and clean installed JAD on my machine numerous times; taken my installer to my computer at work and installed it there and it still crashes every now and then unless I delete the id3lib file. It might be an idea for someone to post their copy of jdl_id3lib on this forum. Maybe mine is just corrupted? |

To the JAD team:
You guys are *good*. Thanks for fixing this bug so quickly. With 6.02, I've tried my best to make JAD crash, but it seems to be bulletproof! ![]() Good show! |
