Question I have this file

I have this file:

"The CMOS.RAM file exists in the %SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32 subdirectory."

Jet Audio insists this is a Real Media file. And automatically configures it as so. How do I fix this. I already deleted the file extension in Folder Options ,but that has no effect. How do I associate this file with the proper application?

This is all I found:
"The CMOS file cmos.ram could not be updated. The CMOS.RAM file could not be written to. It stores the current CMOS state for reference by the Virtual DOS Machine (VDM) emulation. The CMOS.RAM file exists in the %SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32 subdirectory. The %SystemRoot% is the directory where Windows NT is installed, such as WINDOS, WINNT or WINNT35. " Located as web search. I have XP Pro.............
thanxs

Why do do want to change that? As far as I know there's no need of doing so.

That the file is associated to jetAudio doesn't mean the file "converts" to a real audio file. That means if you associate the file to rundll32 the file won't "convert" to a compatible dll file and so on.

The file is not-executable so there's nothing you need to do with it. If you open cmd.exe and see a dos windows, then the file is ok and you don't need to anything with it.

If not jetAudio's or your fault that the file has a .ram extension just as all the RealMedia files do. Anyway, there is nothing that you should do, since only the system uses this file and its not intented for the end-user to take a look; unless you are doing some debugging of the windows kernel.

You're welcome. As I said before don't worry, explorer sets the icon when you view the file, but it actually that icon isn't present in the file itself. Windows should be able to process the file no matter what.
