X5 Battery Replacement?

There was a thread earlier about replacing the battery in the 30GB X5, but I can't find it in a search. Anyone have info on this?

I've waded my way through that and other threads on the same subject, and here's the whole thing condensed into the salient points:

1. No one has found "the" correct battery that is the correct one for the X5 or X5L (the X5L uses two batteries).

2. All of the batteries people have tried are LESS in capacity than the originals.

3. The cheap batteries people find are ALWAYS either misleadingly marked as to capacity, or are old stock (meaning not much life left).

4. NONE of the batteries are an exact size that match the originals, so either a protection device needs to be left off ( ), and/or the replacement battery has to be shoehorned in, thereby pressing on the HD to where it can bind or fail.

5. Due to all the above points, you run the HIGH risk of destroying a very good player by saving only several dollars.

A new battery pair for the X5L, replaced brand new by Cowon America, is $55 including shipping back to you. I think the X5 is about $35 to $40.
By the time you find a replacement battery that isn't junk or counterfeit, you'll spend $25 for the (good but wrong) battery to start with for the X5, and then have to screw around and likely damage your X5/X5L player. Plus, you are NOT EVEN going to find correct replacements for the two different batteries used in the X5L anywhere.

So to save maybe $15, you'll end up with a player that doesn't come near to it's original play time, and you'll have jammed a battery in that may very well damage the hard drive or, worse yet, burst into flame if you left off the protection device.

So after going through all the X5/X5L replacement battery threads I could find, I'm amazed that anyone would still attempt to do it themselves to save a crummy $15.
My X5L is on the way to Cowon America for new batteries at this very moment.

While it would be nice if we could simply buy the correct batteries directly from Cowon, they would still cost $25+ (or $40+ for the two X5L batteries), so paying them just $15 to make sure that they are installed properly is pretty darn cheap, it seems to me.

Vintage - Let us know how the battery replacement turns out and the turn around time. I have read some horror stories of players sent to Cowon for repair of one problem only to be returned with the smae problem or with new problems.

This looks like the correct battery for the X5. The product description lists the right part # and a couple people in that battery replacement thread installed it with no problems.
