I have major issues with my new D2 16GB. I love the sound, the interface is easy to get around, and I can deal with a few quirks, but this goes way beyond!
I've loaded my D2 (FW 2.57) up with mostly MP3 files, but I have a few albums worth of WMA, and two FLAC albums (about 15 GB worth) and have an 8 GB SDHC card with 7.5 GB worth of tracks. All are tagged, not all have album art, but are tagged with title, album, artist, and track number. Almost all the albums show up as unknown in all three displayed fields. Tracks that have album art don't always display the art, and trying to browse by artist, album or even track name is difficult becasue frequently it shows my the same artist, or album, or file name, over and over, or it's blank. Also, the two or three video files don't show up, or show up as an album name, or are blank. If I throw an 8GB Kingston SDHC card into the mix, all bets are off. Frequently, as I try to skip throw songs the player will freeze and eventually restart. At that point it could restart three of four times in a row. And also like to know how to rebuild the database. I don't seem to find any reliable way except to pull all tracks off the D2, restart it, and put them all back in. Rahter annoying when its close to 15 GB worth. I've subbmitted a support ticket, but was hoping someone here has an answer. dcole |

Re: Unknown showing for most all tags
I have the same problem. I'm also hoping that there is someone who can slove this problem.

Tech support asked me to fill out an RMA to have it sent in for testing.

Re: Unknown showing for most all tags
I had a similar problem and then I invested the extra money in the jetaudio vx (think that's what it's called). I downloaded all of my music thru the program and it seems to have resolved MOST of my issues. I'm still having a problem with the album art being displayed, it's only doing that on some of my songs, but all in all, the music is formatted much better on my player now...
Hope this helps..I too am just stumbling thru with this D2 and it gets frustrating at times for me...I'm not used to working this hard to have order on my mp3 player.... |

Re: Unknown showing for most all tags
I'm having the same issues as well. I really don't want to take a chance and try deleting everything before reinserting them onto the player, in case that isn't the solution, especially when I have over 16GBs of music, thanks to my SD card.
Another thing: Sometimes, my D2+ just suddenly restarts without warning, and sometimes will not turn back on until I hit the reset button. Note that this only happened after I inserted an SD card into the player. Before that, everything was fine. And get this: Sometimes, the tag issues affects my folders as well, causing all my folders to have one name. The only way that I can fix this is either by restarting, or if that fails, pressing the reset button. Last edited by Inga Rasen : 08-29-2009 at 15:54. Reason: Adding another technical issue with the D2+. |

Re: Unknown showing for most all tags
Seeing as I cannot seem to edit my previous message, I'm double posting.
Tried deleting all the songs off my player and SD card, and adding all of them again. I'm still getting unknown tags for the music that's on the player. The only ones that tags are showing up on are on the SD card. Joy. |

Re: Unknown showing for most all tags
I too am frustrated at the lack of support for FLAC format files.
My problems is when ripping and tagging FLAC files using MediaMonkey, when I copy them across to the D2+ using MSC transfer, the D2+ displays the Album (the little green icon) as RTIST=name of artist instead of (icon) name of artist. MP3 rip and transfer seems to work fine. Does anyone know of workaround for this? Dex |

Re: Unknown showing for most all tags
Okay I figured it out. Go to settings. Then display. Then title. Then select file name. Then bam you got yourself a working cowon d2. It worked for me; I hope this works for everyone else.

Re: Unknown showing for most all tags
Thanks for this, I understand I can manually add the artist to the file by right clicking the file and going to properites. I added the artists names to my files and the names appear on the file. However, when I put the MP3 files (that show the artists name on them) onto my Sansa e250 I am still getting "unknown artists" and all my music is one big cluster of mixed up music.
