Playlists on G3
I just got a IAudio G3 1GB. I flashed it to firmware 1.25. After playing with it, I see that I can create a single Dynamic Playlist, and I see that it is stored in \SYSTEM\PLAYLIST.DPL.
I have tried to create .M3U playlists that the G3 will see, but none have worked. It does not seem to matter if where they are stored, root or subdirectory, or how they address the music files. Example: #EXTINF:328,Coldplay - White Shadows ..\MUSIC\Coldplay - X&Y\Coldplay - White Shadows.mp3 I changed the c:\my docs\.... to dynamically address the mp3 file. I do not see any way to create or modifiy playlists on the G3, beyond the single Dynamic Playlist. I can not get the G3 to use any playlist that I create on the PC and copy to the G3. Does the G3 not have playlist support? The Dynamic Playlist editting on the G3 seems clunky also, as I dont see how you can add more then a single song at a time to it. |

Since I posted this, I found another post on it saying that the Dynamic Playlist that is \SYSTEM\PLAYLIST.DPL is limited to 8.3 file names. This was easy enough to verify to be true.
Still no answer though as to how you can manage multiple playlists on the G3. At this point, the only thing I can figure is to have M3U's or whatever on my PC, and then use them to send files to my G3 using JetShell. This allows for songs to be ordered as the playlist had them ordered within a folder, but it's a far cry from saying the G3 handles playlists. Last edited by moymike : 06-30-2005 at 08:49. |

Nope, no external playlist support like Winamp, etc does. The Dynamic Playlist editting on the G3 seems clunky also, as I dont see how you can add more then a single song at a time to it. I think it will be cool if We can mark files and then tell the G3 to put those marked files in the playlist, delete them, move them, etc. I guess these players are very hardware limited to what you can do with them when compared with Computers. But I sometimes wonder if it is in fact programmers IQ limitation instead. I guess We will have to learn to live with this 'limitations' for a while. until something better comes along. Despite that I think the G3 is the best or one of the best among flas based players, so weep no more partner. ![]() |
