Question X5L screen always on in cradle

I recently bought an iAudio X5L and the cradle.

I find it disturbing that when I place the X5L in it's cradle, the screen always stays on with the almost-static "Connected" screen that displays the picture of the PC and X5...

Is there any way to have the screen shut down after a few minutes?

If not, is it bad to leave my X5L in the cradle in this state for long periods of time? I'm concerned about both possible screen burn-in and burnout.

Thanks for any help.

Cool you can turn it off ~

yes the screen is in a static mode but you can turn it off but you have to do it manually everytime you put it in the cradle. As noted in the users manual if you momentarily move the power button to the off position it will turn the screen off.

Thanks, I missed that. It'd be nice if I didn't have to do it manually every time I hook it up, but this makes me feel better.

Just for the edification of anyone reading this, I did a little research and found that the LCD screen should not suffer from burn-in, but I haven't found any information on screen lifespan.

Cool life span ... my best guess

I only say this because of your comment. I did some research with tech support on the life span of the battery which is approximatly 3 years with constant usage and charging. So I would guess that when the battery gives out then your screen would too and it would be a good time to purchase a newer modle of the iAudio player at that time.

Glad I could be of some help.
