Trouble Converting MP3's

Hello! I purchased an iAUDIO G3 with 2 Gigabytes of flash memory, and I really enjoy using it! I upgraded the Firmware to 1.30, which was difficult, but I got it done. I upgraded the JetShell Pro to 4.01, and the JetAudio Basic to 6.1.3.6224. When I'm in JetShell, and I am converting the audio tracks to MP3, I ran into a problem. Out of the approx. 25 tracks on the CD, the first 15 or so convert without a problem. But, the rest of them have annoying gaps in the music! Either they are small gaps ("blips"), or pauses of of a half second or longer. I don't know what is wrong. Before I started, in JetShell, I went to the MP3 Encoder Option window, selected a Bitrate of 192kbps, Channel - Joint Stereo (Recommend), and Quality of High Quality (Slow).

Would someone please tell me what's wrong, and why I am getting these gaps in some (but not all) of the MP3 files that I convert? Thank you!

1) Jetshell is a really miserable way to convert files to MP3. I recommend Mediamonkey or DBPowerAMP or even (spit!) Windows Mediaplayer 10.

2) MP3 is a lousy format to convert to, unless you need maximum compatibility with antique players! .OGG Vorbis or WMA 9.1, 2 pass VBR, will both give you better sound quality at lower bitrates.

It isn't clear to me what you are converting =from= .. are you ripping direct from CD?
