I had some problems using my new iAudio5 from SuSE 9.2, as described in
other thread. Trying to experiment and fixing this problem, I updated the firmware of the iAudio5 to the latest version (1.41.e)
I continue having the same problem already described under SuSE 9.2, and in addition a new problem appeared also under Mandrake, a different Linux distribution which I use at office and which worked smoothly with my iAudio5, until now.
The problem is very odd. I can mount and use the iAudio5, create directories, transfer files in and out, etc without problems. If I umount the drive, and mount it again, the new directories and files are still here, as expected , but only if the reproductor is not turned on. As soon as I turn on the iAudio5 player, after an unsually long splash screen, all the newly trasfered files are no longer in the flash memory. They cannot be found in the file browser of the iAudio5. If I mount again the usb drive under linux, I can check that, indeed, the files were indeed deleted The free space reported by "df" is correct (as if those new files never were added).
I do not think that the problem is in Linux, but in the new firmware, that for some reason "does not like" the files uploaded from linux, and silently deletes them (and the directories in which they were, by the way).
I also noticed a new "feature" which perhaps is linked to the above behaviour. A new file appears in the root of the flash filesystem, called LICENSE.DRM. What is this file about? Anyone knows about it?
