Tagging Problems/Questions/Suggestions

Hello everyone,

Let me begin by saying that I love JetAudio, and have used it exclusively for music and videos since the moment I discovered it.

Now, that having been said, I've been having a lot of trouble with its mp3 tagging. I've been using it to update my mp3 tags (which are an absolute mess), basically just inputting the correct title/artist/album/track/year and adding the album art.

I've found a couple forum posts at least related to some of the issues I've been having, but haven't found any concrete answer or solutions. In short:

1) The genre tag has a tendancy to up and disappear on me. When I say 'disappear,' I mean from the Windows folder.

2) There seems to be a character limit for any given field (title, artist, album, etc). I believe it's 30, but don't quote me on the exact number.

3) The album art seems be somehow 'non-standard' in that it doesn't show up at all in other media players (I've tried WMP and some linux program a buddy of mine uses) and gets displayed as a popup lyric viewer box even in JetAudio itself.

Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

the problem is that jetAudio uses ID3v2.4 tags
and windows/other common players (eg, wmp, winamp) uses ID3v2.3 tags.
thus even the tags by jetAudio are ok, it's somewhat more new version than other programs use.

jetAudio also writes ID3v1 tags and those are readable by every other software
however, that version of ID3 tag has char limit for fields.

solution: use tagScanner or softwares like this to manage your mp3/ogg tags.

PS: plz search the forums first. this solution is already posted several times.

I did search ... as I mentioned, I found a number of posts but none discussing fields disappearing (my first question), field limits (second), and the album art oddity (third). Maybe I didn't look hard enough.

Thank you for your response, though. I will find a tag editing program to manage my tags.

it's ok. may be you missed that post somehow...

you can use
tagScanner (which i use)
Music Label (which i heard to be good but still havent tried it)
Media Monkey (it's very good; i use it too)
MP3 Collector

just search www.google.com for any of these softs.

Thanks again, CvP. I've been using Mp3tag on a recommendation from a friend, but I'll check out those that you mentioned as well.

For tagging purposes, I would recommend you iTunes.

When you change track # and track title, the file will also be automatically renamed to reflect the changes.

When you change the album title for a file or a whole album, the file or all the files also will be moved in Explorer automatically.

If there is no files in the old album folder, iTunes will even remove that folder for you.

even am having a few probs....

whn am clicking the LYRICS/PIC TAB....nothing is happening....the dialog box is not comming!!!!!!!!

Maybe that's happening, because there are no lyrics or album-art saved for your MP3-File. To change id3-tags use the recommended software or press F4.

Granted I haven't even gone there and seen it, but how is tagscanner related to the Godfather? Easier?.....

I´m from portugal and first of all let me greet you for the best player in the world,i´ts simpl amazing , i´ve never seem nothing like it ,but i have a problem
i can not play asx radio files in jet audio , all the portuguese radios that i try to play in jet audio crashes the software.
can you tell me why that happens?
