X5 - Please help
I purchased a new 30 GB X5, and everything is great - the sound, the interface. I only have one annoying problem I can't fix or explain, which frustrates me.
Whenever I play continuous songs, whether it's the shuffle or regular mode, once every three songs there's a technical "jump" or "leap" in the track, it scratches for 3-4 seconds, and then returns to play normally. When I play one of the allegedly "damaged" songs seperatly, after picking it from the menu, it plays just fine. Can someone please explain to me what is this problem, and is there a way to fix it? Thank you very much in advance! |

Re: X5 - Please help
I have heard of other users with similar problems, but do not know for sure if there is a specific fix for the behavior you describe. Normally, I would think that you might have a few bad or incompatible files onboard, but you are able to play these files individually without a problem.
If it were me, I would first try loading up one of the latest firmwares - 2.10 or 2.11b1. If that did not work, I would reformat the hard drive using Jetshell. If that still does not clear up the problem, start contacting Cowon and have them suggest other troubleshooting procedures or to arrange to have your unit returned for warranty repair. On another forum a fellow from the Netherlands was having a 'skipping' problem every fes songs. He did the reformat and firmware upgrade, but it did not cure the problem. Last I remember, he was trying to get it returned for repair or replacement. |

Re: X5 - Please help
First of all, thank you for the response. A bit late, I know, but don't think I didnt appreciate it.
I just wanted to give you all and update - After reformatting and checking firmware, the problem still lingers, so tonight I'm trying to replace it. Wish me luck |
